Overly large breasts can take a huge toll on the body in terms of neck and back strain, chaffing, and general discomfort. Many women with disproportionately large or sagging breasts (macromastia) turn to breast reduction surgery to improve their quality of life and increase their self confidence.

signature breast reduction

A signature breast reduction, known also as a LipoLift®, is a procedure that Dr. Schwartz created so that women can achieve a better breast shape and size with less invasive methods.

After your signature breast reduction, your breasts will be smaller and more manageable, bras and clothing will fit more comfortably, and your overall figure will be more balanced and proportional. A LipoLift® breast reduction can address not only the size of the breasts, but also their symmetry, and the placement of the nipples.

A signature breast reduction may be included in a mommy makeover procedure, or may be paired with a breast lift. If you are interested in combining any additional cosmetic treatments with your breast reduction surgery, do not hesitate to ask Dr. Schwartz during your confidential breast reduction consultation.

Incision Placement

While the procedure may involve the same types of incisions as a traditional breast reduction, LipoLift® breast reduction has some distinct advantages. With a standard breast reduction, the breast is typically opened up and excess tissue is cut away, often from the top of the breast (known as inferior pedicle technique). With a LipoLift® breast reduction, liposuction is used to remove undesirable tissue from the lower aspect and the sides of the breast near the armpit, the part that women typically dislike the most. This leaves behind the top part of the breast, the part that creates cleavage when wearing clothes. Also, because the procedure uses liposuctoin, it is less invasive, and drains are not needed; often there is less recovery time and a more comfortable recovery process, overall. The procedure can be performed either awake or with IV sedation and most women take just TYLENOL® after the surgery.

Clients that require a minimal reduction in size would benefit from this type of LipoLift® breast reduction. This techniques allows Dr. Schwartz to make the incision around the outer edge of the areolar complex, which helps to camouflage the scar in the darker pigments of the nipple.

Clients who need only a moderate reduction in size may benefit from this type of LipoLift® breast reduction. The technique allows Dr. Schwartz to remove excess skin, fat, and breast tissue, and reshape and reposition the breast higher on the chest wall.

Clients that need a more significant reduction in breast size or have considerable asymmetry to be corrected may benefit from this type of LipoLift® breast reduction. This technique allows Dr. Schwartz to remove the most amount of skin and tissue, while reshaping the breasts to a more youthful position.

The scars resulting from an inverted-T or anchor breast reduction are similar to those from a vertical reduction, with one additional, thin scar running along the crease beneath the breast. With proper care, scars typically fade considerably over the first year or so after surgery and are easily concealed by clothing, even a bikini top.

Lipolift® for breast reduction

Disproportionately large breasts can be a source of discomfort and concern for many women. A signature LipoLift® can contour and remove excess breast tissue specifically from the sides, the part which falls over into the armpit, and the bottom of the breast, resulting in more manageable and attractive breasts.

Having breasts that fit your frame better can make you feel lighter, boost your overall body image, and give you the freedom of more clothing options.

After Surgery

After the surgery, Dr. Schwartz will fit you with a compression garment, which acts to reduce swelling and help your breasts to maintain their new, improved contours. Most clients find they can return to their regular activities within a week, but are advised to avoid heavy lifting or strenuous motion for 2-4 weeks post-op.

Dr. Schwartz will schedule follow-up visits to make sure your healing is on track, and he will also provide a detailed aftercare plan.

Breast Reduction FAQs

Long-Lasting Results?

The results of your LipoLift ® signature breast reduction should last a lifetime, as long as you maintain a stable weight and do not plan on becoming pregnant. If you do plan on having children after your breast reduction, Dr. Schwartz can help you decide whether or not you should have the surgery before or after having children.

Areola Reduction?

Clients that may benefit from a signature nipple or areola complex reduction may have larger nipples or areolas due to having larger breasts, due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, or even nipple piercings. A nipple and/or areola reduction can be performed during your signature LipoLift® breast reduction to resize the nipples more in proportion to your new, smaller breasts. Also a nipple/areola complex procedure can be used to address any asymmetries between the breasts, and even out their appearance.

can i still breastfeed?

Yes. Having a LipoLift® breast reduction should not interfere with your ability to breastfeed.
