J-Plasma: How Renuvion Stacks Up Against The Competition

Feb 2, 2019 | Body

Our skin has a big job to do as one of the largest organs of the body. It protects us from outside elements such as sun exposure or humidity and most importantly keeps our body intact. Factors such as sun damage, stress, acne, and the natural process of aging all take their toll on our skin especially on our face. Facial rejuvenation is one of the most requested needs in the cosmetic world because everyone wants to look younger and rejuvenated. Finding options to remove wrinkles, sun spots, or age spots, or how to get a more youthful glow without surgery are high on the list. A new player in the field of facial revitalization, J-Plasma (Renuvion), is stacking itself up against the other non-invasive options and proving to the cosmetic world it is here to stay.

One of the early adopters of this new, nonsurgical technique, Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Jaime Schwartz uses the power of J-plasma for rejuvenation and tightening the skin. Let’s take a look at what it is and how it measures up to the other skin rejuvenation treatments on the market.

A quick look at Renuvion/J-Plasma

Renuvion/J-Plasma promises instant results without the need for surgery. It is the new technique that is being rivaled against other popular treatments such as laser skin resurfacing, which has always been the “go to” procedure in non-invasive facial revitalization. The main factor in this equation is the word “plasma”. With the use of a patented J-Plasma device, Renuvion delivers a cold helium plasma derived from helium gas being transformed by radiofrequency (RF) energy. The cold helium plasma is applied as “steam” topically (for surface repair) or subdermally (beneath the skin for skin tightening).

Benefits of Renuvion/J-Plasma

The main goal of skin enhancement treatments is to look younger and more radiant so that you can feel good about the skin you are in. Exfoliating old skin and eliminating wrinkles can all be beneficial in fighting the aging process. The main goal of Renuvion/J-Plasma, on the surface, is to exfoliate--revealing new, healthier skin that is lying underneath. Another goal of Renuvion/J-Plasma is to tighten minimally loose skin. It has been referred to as the “surgery free” facelift!

Who benefits from Renuvion/J-Plasma

The ideal candidate for this procedure has:

  • Minor scars due to acne.

  • Moderate signs of aging such as mild wrinkles and fine lines.

  • Moderate sun damage such as dark spots, freckles, and pigmentation problems.

  • Crow’s feet around the eyes or fine lines around the mouth area.

  • Moderate to minimal signs of loose skin on the body.

Candidates looking for a dramatic change with smoothing out fine lines or irregular pigmentation can see the results instantly. As with any facial rejuvenation treatment there is a recovery period so once the skin is fully healed patients experience the amazing results of Renuvion/J-Plasma!

Renuvion/J-Plasma compared to the competition

In the facial rejuvenation world there are countless options for women and men to get that youthful glow back as well as improve skin laxity. From treatments such as medical-grade facials, to more advanced techniques such as laser skin peels, Renuvion/J-Plasma is now a player in the skin rejuvenation game. While all of these procedures have their benefit and place in the line-up, let’s take a look at how Renuvion/J-Plasma stacks up.

Laser Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing is just like it sounds. It is a process that uses a laser type technique to treat minor wrinkles, scars, discoloration, pigmentation, or fine lines. Laser skin resurfacing can be performed a number of ways ranging from a light peel to a more aggressive approach depending on the condition of your skin. Still popular today, it is generally performed for surface irregularities, although many of the newer radio frequency devices also address skin laxity. It is a big competitor against Renuvion.

So what makes Renuvion/J-Plasma different? Renuvion uses a more precise resurfacing technique with the J-Plasma device. It does not affect surrounding tissue like some of the other laser skin resurfacing technologies. Renuvion also has shown to have quicker recovery times and fewer complications with its advance technology than its competition. The dual effect of being able to address both the surface and beneath the skin in one device is quickly making Renuvion the popular choice.

IPL Photofacials

Using intense pulsating light, IPL photofacials resurface the skin and treat minor facial blemishes. Considered the most non-invasive of all skin rejuvenation treatments available, it is less intense than its counterparts of laser resurfacing and Renuvion/J-Plasma. While the treatment does offer nice results and plays a part in stimulating collagen, it can only treat very minor skin issues. The results are less dramatic and not as long lasting. When compared, IPL photofacials are a simple, inexpensive way to treat minor facial skin issues however not the solution for stronger results like you would get with Renuvion/J-Plasma.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a treatment that deeply exfoliates dead skin and clears clogged pores leaving skin feeling rejuvenated. It is a basic treatment to make your face feel more refreshed. While it has its perks in the area of a quick glow and affordable price tag, the treatment does not address certain issues such as loose skin, or more moderate or noticeable lines and surface irregularities. It also does not eliminate skin pigmentation. It is a good procedure to have a couple times per year, but does not offer near the results of Renuvion.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels exfoliate the skin and boost collagen production with the application of caustic chemicals. The application of these chemicals causes the skin to peel and blister revealing new skin underneath. Chemical peels and Renuvion/J-Plasma treatments cause the same reaction to the skin and can help with fine lines, wrinkles and minor scarring. Both also have the same amount of recovery time. The one difference that makes Renuvion/J-Plasma stand out is that it can tighten skin. Chemical peels can only exfoliate so no help with sagging, loose skin is possible. Also patients with certain skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis are not candidates for chemical peels so they can look to Renuvion/J-Plasma for help.

Facelift

The one major comparison between having a facelift or Renuvion/J-Plasma is surgery vs. no surgery. Another major difference is a facelift can only tighten the skin but it does not offer a solution for resurfacing the skin. Dark spots or hyperpigmentation, even minor skin blemishes, will not be corrected with a facelift. Although it is the priciest of facial treatments, facelifts offer the most dramatic results that are long lasting--but are geared for tightening only.

Renuvion/J-Plasma is the latest innovation in the world of skin rejuvenation. When compared to other options of facial treatments there is no comparison what Renuvion/J-Plasma does without surgery! It provides dramatic results helping patients erase the signs of aging and get that youthful glow back.
