When we think of breast enhancement, we automatically think of breast implants or fat grafting. While there are many ways to surgically enhance the breasts there really aren’t too many non-surgical techniques. Breast enhancement can be achieved with a traditional breast augmentation using implants, with a fat transfer to the breasts, or with PRP injections aka a vampire breast lift.
Breast Implants
Most of our patients seeking a breast enhancement are great candidates for a breast augmentation with breast implants to give their breasts more volume and a nicer shape
Women that tend to get breast enhancement with implants want a significant increase in volume, usually a cup size or greater. Some candidates for this type of breast enhancement have undergone a mastectomy and/or breast reconstruction. This is also a preferred method of breast enhancement for transgender women, which is known as a top surgery.
Fat Transfer to Breast
For women who are seeking a breast enhancement without implants may be good candidates for a fat transfer, which involves using liposuction to remove fat from unwanted areas of the body such as the hips, flanks, thighs, or abdomen, and injecting that fat into the breasts for a subtle and all natural looking enhancement. The benefits of this type of breast enhancement are that it is a less invasive procedure, which means less recovery time. Also, unlike implants, once the fat has been transferred it becomes a permanent part of the body.
Vampire Breast Lift
Another form of breast enhancement that we commonly perform is with PRP injections, and is also commonly known as a vampire breast lift. This type of breast enhancement uses PRP, which is platelet rich plasma harvested from the patient’s own blood, and injected into the breasts to increase blood flow and collagen production, and skin tightening. This is a subtle non-surgical breast enhancement, which is preferred for women looking for an increase in volume without surgery. The effect of a vampire breast lift is one of rejuvenation, and will not necessarily make a dramatic difference in the size of the breasts, although it does enhance them somewhat.
