GYNECOMASTIA TREATMENT
Gynecomastia treatment can restore confidence in your appearance, make you feel more masculine, give you more freedom in clothing options, correct poor posture, and make sports more enjoyable, but too often men who suffer from gynecomastia do not seek treatment because they don’t know a surgeon they can trust. As a result, one’s quality of life can suffer dramatically due to gynecomastia.
Fortunately, there are many ways to correct gynecomastia, and during your initial consultation, Dr. Schwartz will help determine which treatment plan would be the most beneficial to you. In cases of moderate to severe gynecomastia, Dr. Schwartz may recommend surgery where an incision would be placed around your areola or under your armpit and breast tissue removed from inside the breast. Or if the gynecomastia is mild, liposuction may be used to remove small pockets of fat from the chest.
Once the desired shape and size of the chest has been achieved, Dr. Schwartz can also resize the nipple and areola complex, to give you a smaller more masculine looking nipples if they have been stretched out due to the growth of breast tissue.

SCHWARTZ RAPID RECOVERY™
Schwartz Rapid Recovery™ is a term used to describe a combination of techniques Dr. Jaime Schwartz uses to accelerate the recovery process after your surgery.
Schwartz Rapid Recovery™ starts with anesthesia. Dr. Schwartz uses a gentler form of general anesthesia called TIVA, which stands for total intravenous anesthesia. Gynecomastia clients are given an IV with medication that puts them in an adequate state of anesthesia without needing to use a breathing tube or anesthetic gases. You will essentially be asleep for the duration of the procedure and breathing on your own.
Because TIVA medications wear off quickly and are typically out of the body in a few hours, you are less likely to feel nauseous after the procedure. In fact, the IV medication has an anti-nausea effect, resulting in a shorter time in the recovery room, and an overall smoother experience.
Another component of Schwartz Rapid Recovery™ is minimizing the discomfort of surgery. Dr. Schwartz may inject BOTOX® into the muscles of your chest prior to surgery, or use EXPAREL® (a long-acting local anesthetic) which he places into the muscles during surgery. Most clients take only TYLENOL® after their procedure, can go out to dinner the following night, and typically return to work after one week.
Support from Dr. Schwartz’s nurses and the team will be available to you 24/7 after your gynecomastia treatment.
As you and Dr. Schwartz develop your treatment plan together, he will give you more precise information on what to expect in terms of your recovery.

MALE BREAST REDUCTION FAQS
IS IT PERMANENT?
In most situations, a male breast reduction is a permanent solution. However, weight gain after the surgery can cause breast enlargement due to new fat deposits, and use of hormones or steroids can greatly increase the risk of recurring gynecomastia.
WILL THEY GO AWAY ON THEIR OWN
Unfortunately, no. True gynecomastia is a problem of excess breast tissue, so losing fat or building muscle cannot eradicate it. You can help to minimize the visibility of the problem by improving the muscle underneath the tissue, but it can only be completely removed surgically.
WHAT ABOUT MY NIPPLES?
If needed, an areolar reduction may be performed on its own or as part of a male breast reduction. The procedure requires an incision all the way around the areola, but the scar is usually well-hidden by the color change between normal skin and areola, and the results will give you a more masculine-looking chest.
