overview

Even if you were born with full lips, you may notice less fullness in your lips as you get older. A nonsurgical or surgical lip augmentation can help create a full, plump appearance to your mouth.

Surgical lip augmentation may be done with silicone implants, a fat transfer, or a vermilion advancement (lip lift) to create the shape you want. For nonsurgical lip augmentation, there are several injectable fillers that can temporarily volumize the mouth for a fuller look. If you are interested in learning more about surgical and nonsurgical augmentation, contact Dr. Jaime S. Schwartz in Beverly Hills, CA to schedule an initial consultation. Plastic surgeon Dr. Jaime S. Schwartz will discuss your options and create your personal treatment plan for lip augmentation.

Ideal Candidates

Clients with thin, asymmetrical, disproportionate or misshapen lips may benefit from a surgical or nonsurgical lip enhancement, to give them a more voluminous, shapely looking mouth and balance out their features.  To determine whether you are a good candidate for lower and/or upper lip enhancement, contact us to schedule an in person consultation with Dr. Jaime S. Schwartz.

Types of Lip Augmentation

  • Lip Implants
Providing the most long lasting results, silicone implants may be added to the lower and/or upper lips to improve the volume and shape of your mouth.
  • Fat Transfer
By removing fat from your body with minimally invasive liposuction and adding the processed fat back into your mouth, you can have more natural volume in your lips.
  • Lip Lift/Vermillion Advancement
This is a surgical lip augmentation technique that adjusts the outer lines of the lower and/or upper lips to expand the shape and area of the mouth.
  • Dermal Fillers
Injectable fillers, such as Restylane or Juvéderm, can add temporary volume to the mouth and decrease the visibility of fine lip lines. The results are seen immediately, and there is little to no downtime; you may leave the office and go right back to your regular routine.

What to Expect

It is important to pay attention to the recovery instructions given by Dr. Schwartz for faster healing and the best results. After either a nonsurgical or surgical lip enhancement, your mouth will most likely feel tender or sore for several days after your procedure. If you had a fat transfer, you should expect the liposuctioned area to be tender also. The improvements from nonsurgical lip augmentation may be visible for about 3 – 12 months, based on the method selected for your procedure. Lip augmentation surgery will give you long-lasting improvements; however, the natural aging process can affect your results in time. Talk to Dr. Schwartz about maintenance sessions to freshen up your lips.
